Classes I – V

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment will be done five times for each main subject. Each formative assessment will carry 10 marks.

Summative Assessment

These are weekly tests administered every Friday on the basis of pre-determined schedule given in the Almanac. For classes I to IV there will be Five Unit Tests carrying 30 marks each (25 marks will be used for testing textual matter from the prescribed syllabus while 5 marks are reserved for high order thinking questions). For Class V there will be Four Weekly test cycle followed by One Summative Assessment in March. (40 marks each)

Classes VI – XII

The CBSE has restored the Board Examination for Class X from the Academic year 2017-18 and has issued guidelines for the revised assessment structure and examination . This new scheme will bring uniformity in the system of assessment and examination for classes VI to X in all the CBSE affiliated schools. To increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for Class X Board Examination when they join the upper primary stage in Class VI, the CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment, examination pattern and issue of report cards for Classes VI to VIII also on the similar pattern. The detailed components of the scheme are mentioned below for easy understanding and implementation.

The examination and assessment structure for Classes VI to VIII have been prepared in view of the provisions of RTE – ACT 2009 and comprise two terms i.e. Term – 1 and Term – 2 as explained below :

Subject Enrichment Activities

These are subject – specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skill of the students. These activities are to be carried out throughout the term; however, they should be evaluated at the term- end. It will include ASL (Assessment of Speaking and Listening activities) in Languages, Map / Project work in Social Science, Activities in Science and Maths.

Note Books and submission

This will address the maintenance and upkeep of Note Books and submission of the class work and home work on regular basis.

Co- Scholastic Activities

For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out in CBSE affiliated schools by the teachers and will be graded term-wise on a 3- point grading scale

(A = Outstanding , B = Very Good and C = Fair). The aspect of regularity, sincere participation , output and teamwork be the generic criteria for grading in the following co- scholastic activities

Work Education

Work Education refers to skill- based activities resulting in goods or services useful to the Community (Computer Education)

Discipline

The students will also be assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance , sincerity , behavior, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society and nation. Grading on discipline will be done term wise on a 3 – point grading scale. (A = Outstanding , B = Very Good and C = Fair).

Periodic Test (10 marks)

The school will conduct three periodic written test in the entire academic year and the average of the best two will be taken. Three test will be held as one being the mid – term test and other the two being pre mid and post mid- term with portion of syllabus cumulatively covered. The gradually increasing portion of contents would prepare students acquire confidence for appearing in the Board Examination with 100% syllabus. The school will take the average of the best two tests for final marks submission.

Notebook Submission (5 marks)

Notebook submission as a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topics being taught in the classroom as well as assignments. This also addresses the critical aspect of regularity ,punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.

Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks)

These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development. These activities are to be recorded internally by respective subject teachers.

Work Education or Pre – Vocational Education By the concerned Teacher Work education is a distinct curricular area for students for participation in social, economic and welfare activities. Students get a sense of community service and develops self – reliance. (For Pre – Vocational Education a per Scheme of Studies)
Art Education By the VA / PA or the concerned teacher Art Education constitutes an important area of curricular activity for development of wholesome personality of the students. Students will select one or more forms of creative arts.
Health & Physical  Education (Sports/Martial Arts/Yoga/NCC etc.) By the PE Teacher Health & Physical Activity preferably sports must be given a regular period. Students should be provided opportunities to get professionally trained in the area of their interest. Indigenous sports, yoga and NCC must be encouraged in the schools creating a sense of physical fitness, discipline , sportsman – ship, patriotism,self – sacrifice and health care.

Discipline (Attendance , Sincerity, Behaviour, Values)

Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character. Sincerity, good behavior and values develop strength and foster unity and co-operation. Therefore,the elements of discipline has been introduced. Class teacher will be responsible for grading the students on a Five –point scale (A to E)

  • The internal assessment comprising 20 marks (10+5+5) entails objectivity and a structured approach.

Promotion Rules (Class I – XII)

  • Promotion cannot be claimed as a matter of right but is given on the basis of the cumulative results of the Periodic/Unit Test, Internal Assessment and the Comprehensive Examination.
  • The decision of the school authorities regarding promotion is final. No student is given double promotion.
  • If a student indulges in unfair means of copying at the time of Examination , his/her exam/test will be treated as cancelled. The Principal may also take any other disciplinary action as per the school rules.
  • It is mandatory for all the students to appear in all the tests/examination conducted by the school to be eligible for promotion.
  • If a student is absent from a Unit Test or any examination, he/she will not be given retest under any circumstances. His/her absence would be considered as willful absence.
  • In case of illness , medical documents along with the application should be submitted immediately. In case child is medically unfit to come to school on the Unit Test day, an application with medical certificate should be sent to school ,the child should not be sent to school just for taking the test.
  • The student who is detained twice in same class will be issued T.C. on the last date of the session.
  • The name of the student will be struck off the rolls of the school if he/she is absent for more than 10 days continuous without sanction of the leave.
  • As each exam has some weightage so absence in any exam / test will negatively affect the overall result of a student.
  • The students of Nursery class generally graduate to class I subject to eligibility in respect to attendance. They are however , assessed continuously by the teachers.

For Classes I to V

The promotion to the next class will be based on the performance in Formative and Summative Assessments. The students must get at least grade D in each subject of study including Computer Education and Divinity.

For Classes VI to VIII

A student must obtain at least Grade D in each subject in Internal Assessment and Terminal Examinations including Divinity & Computer Education. If any student fails to get Grade D in any subject,he / she is given one chance for improvement in that subject.

For Class IX

A student must obtain at least Grade D in each subject inInternal Assessment and Terminal Examination including Divinity & Computer Education. If any student fails to get Grade D in any subject, he /she is given one chance for improvement in that subject.

For Class IX

  • A student must obtain at least Grade D i.e. 33% in each Elective Subject (Theory and Practical separately) and aggregate of 40% in overall result in order to be declared Pass and Promoted to Class – XII.
  • Promotion will be based on the weightage of the performance in all the Tests/Examinations conducted in the Academic session as follows:

  • Securing minimum 40% in Divinity is mandatory to Pass in Class – XI.
  • Compartment Examination :
  • A student will be considered for compartment in only ONE subject provided he/she gets 20% marks in the Theory paper of that failing subject.
  • OR

  • In case the candidate gets at least 15% of marks in one failing subject but 40% in aggregate in all the remaining subjects ,he /she is also eligible for appearing in compartment examination.
  • If a student has failed in theory, compartment is given in theory only.
  • If a student has failed in practical , he/she has to appear both in theory and practical.
  • Grace marks upto maximum of 10 in all shall be awarded to a student enable him/her to reach the minimum required marks in overall result provided.
  • A minimum of 25% of marks has to be secured in the failing subject.
  • Maximum marks to be granted in one subject are 8 marks.
  • No grace marks are awarded to students taking compartment examination.
  • While calculating 25% or 33% the benefit of fraction will go to the credit of the student.

Attendance

  • Class XI & XII – A student will not be allowed to appear in Annual Exam/Board Exam if he/she has not put in a minimum 75% of the total attendance of the Academic Session.
  • Appearing in Annual Examination is mandatory. In case a student is absent due to medical reasons, he/she is allowed to take the exam in those subjects along with the compartmental students. Rules of compartment examination will be applicable i.e.student will have to obtain33% in each of the subject and aggregate 40% for promotion.

Additional Subject

  • The sixth subject or the Additional subject is offered to the student only for their benefit in External / Board Examination in Class XII.
  • The sixth subject offered in Class XII will not be considered for Promotion or Detention of a student while calculating the overall class – XI result.
